[Magic, energy, essence, soul. All words that can mean the same thing, but Stephen knows better than to assume he already knows, even when he thinks he already knows. Magic is never that easy.

He tries to keep his little smile out of his pause and from his words as best he can. He probably doesn’t fully manage it.]

Now that is interesting.

‘Dreamfuckery’ isn’t exactly the term I’ve seen used, but, you know how ancient texts are. Sometimes things get lost in translation.

Hey, no need to over-complicate things if that's what you've got to work with. Dreamfuckery it is.

[There's a slight pause, but not a tremendously long one. No point in dancing around questions that are in the air already.]

What happened to the rest of your kind?

[Is that a very slight exhale that sounds just a little tense? If it is, Stephen covers it with a light clearing of his throat.]

Great track record there.

So this is something you've brought here with you. The dream magic. And you've been learning how to use it alone since--?

[There's the famous Strange bedside manner, still very much alive and well. At least now he has the wherewithal to wince on the other end. Good job, Strange.]

Well, that accounts for one of the two.

[That is NOT helping, Stephen.]

Sorry about your dad.

I hear what you're saying. It can't be easy trying to parse this through on your own.

What I felt at the Meadows is more than impressive though. Not just on a visual level, but in its very essence.

[There's a faint tapping sort of noise as he pauses.]

What are you struggling with?

[There's a pause after Ronan answers, a relatively long, thoughtful one before Stephen seems to 'come back' to the interactive part of the conversation.]

I have some thoughts about that, things that may help.

Some of it is speculative until I know more about your process, but it sounds like you may have some things that need to get out one way or another.

I have a parallel dimension for that kind of thing. Magical experimentation, practice, real-dimension safety, that sort of thing.

That's where my mind first goes with this, though like I said, the abstract theory is often different in practice.

There are a lot of options and applications for the Mirror Dimension. But as I said, this is my first mental sweep based on what you've said and not from anything I've seen beyond your farm.

And as good as I am--and I am very good, by the way--I have limits when it comes to speculative work. But that said, I do know how this sounds, the risks for you, and how much trust is involved in something like this. So how about this: consider it an open offer with no expiration date. You decide that want to give it a try sometime, you let me know.

[Huh. Well that's sort of unexpected. Honestly, Stephen figured this was going to be a much longer process.]

In that case, give me a location and let's do this.

The place I might never leave, huh? Sounds fair.

[There's a vague crackling wooshing sort of sound in the background, then the feed cuts.]
